About the position:

 

The Early Head Start Family Child Educator for OCCDA will provide educational and family services to families with infants/toddlers and pregnant women in a home base setting throughout Okanogan County and Bridgeport. These services include visits with the child's parents, primarily in the child's home, and group socialization opportunities in a classroom, community facility, or on field trips. The Family Child Educator will focus on parent-child interactions as means to promote positive parenting behaviors, provide research based information around developmental topics, and focus on family well-being to promote healthy family functioning.

Required Education and Experience:

  • General and Initial State Certificate or higher degree, OR
  • Department of Children Youth and Families equivalent education
 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Have a minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor's degree.

  • One year of professional experience working with infants, toddlers and families to demonstrate and ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children's progress in the following: Children with disabilities; Dual language learners; and Build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.

  • Post Hire Training Requirements:

    • Parents as Teachers Foundational Training within 3 months of hire

    • Mobility Mentoring within 3 months of hire

    • Teaching Strategies GOLD child assessment within 3 months of hire

    • Conscious Discipline internal training

  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.


The position is 40 hours per week for 48 weeks per year with a starting salary of $19.12 if qualified for the position. If not qualified for this position, please reach out to Josie Bent for details on our provisional hiring process.
